Logos, colours and backgrounds: give your screen content a consistent look
A menu, an event notice and guest information can look different. Consistent colours, a fixed position for the business name and a clear layout make them recognisably part of the same business.
Give the message priority
Decide what visitors should notice first: the offer or the information. A logo identifies the business but should not compete with the heading. An oversized logo on every card takes up space without explaining the content.
Define a simple layout
Agree a fixed place for the business identity, an area for the main message and one for supporting details. Use a small number of text styles and consistent colour roles, such as dark text, a light background and one accent colour. Choose the actual colours to suit your business and test them on the screen.
Illustrative example: two layouts for the same message
Before: competing elements
After: clear hierarchy
Before and after: what changes?
| Area | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Business identity | Cluttered: the logo dominates every card | Clear: a small identifier in a fixed position |
| Text styling | Cluttered: multiple styles and changing colours | Clear: consistent roles for the main message and supporting lines |
| Background | Cluttered: text over a busy photograph | Clear: a calm surface behind the information |
Apply the layout to different content
In the fictional example, the business name stays in the same place. A menu card starts with the dish, an event card with the event and a guest-information card with the notice. The price, date or next step follows beneath. Consistency means a shared structure, not identical wording or the same amount of text on every card.
