Your own videos, YouTube and Vimeo: choosing a source
Your own videos and video platforms are not alternatives to each other. What matters is who controls the content, where it is hosted and whether it plays in your intended project.
Choose content and platform separately
Your own restaurant film can be hosted on YouTube or Vimeo. “Your own” describes the content and your control over it, not a separate playback method. The current project help does not describe direct video-file uploads to SUISSE-VIDEO as a clip source.
Choose a source for its purpose
Your own recordings suit messages about your business that you want to update yourself. With third-party clips, you also depend on their publisher. Choose YouTube or Vimeo according to your publishing and embedding requirements, rather than a blanket claim about quality.
Example: three source decisions for Pizzeria Oliva
| Goal | Approach | Check before use |
|---|---|---|
| Introduce your own dishes | Host your own short film on YouTube or Vimeo | Content, permissions and playback in the project |
| Use an existing YouTube clip | Use the full YouTube link as the clip source | Suitability, permissions and allowed embedding |
| Use an existing Vimeo clip | Use the full Vimeo link as the clip source | Visibility, embedding settings and actual playback address |
Test in the project, not just on the platform
A playable platform page does not guarantee embedded playback. Check the full link, embedding permission and playback in the project on the intended device. Keep a tested replacement clip ready and record who checks links and content.
