Internet and playback device: what should you check before use?
A project works on the office computer but not yet reliably on the intended screen. Check the real location and daily startup routine before putting it into service.
Start at the actual location
Use the intended playback device and its everyday internet connection. A successful office test does not confirm Wi-Fi reception at the screen or another device’s settings. Record the device, browser, project URL and location.
Test startup with and without sound
Check the first start after opening the browser. Does playback begin, or is a click needed? Browsers can restrict autoplay with sound; Chrome documents such rules in its official guidance. Test the sound configuration you actually need. Successful playback after a click does not prove unattended startup.
Three practical checks before use
| Check | Procedure | Record the result |
|---|---|---|
| Connectivity | Play several clips at the actual location during normal operations. | Record interruptions and times |
| Startup | Reopen the browser and test the required sound configuration. | Record any clicks needed |
| Restart | Restart the device in a controlled test and check the project again. | Record responsibility and startup procedure |
Record checks and the startup procedure
Document results, unresolved issues and who checks the screen each morning. For connectivity problems, record how the team checks the state and restarts playback. This guide does not promise offline playback or automatic recovery. Retest affected steps after changes to the device, browser or network.
