Holiday opening hours: keep your guests informed
Opening hours often change over the holidays. A short notice with the date, kitchen hours and the next normal opening day helps guests plan their visit.
Put the date in the message
“Closing early tomorrow” is clear for just one day. Give the full date, including the year, and the actual opening hours. For a restaurant, include kitchen hours if they differ from the opening hours.
Give guests advance notice
Guests need the information before they visit. Schedule an advance notice and, if useful, a separate message for the holiday itself. The period when the notice is displayed is different from the opening hours written in it.
Example: a holiday notice for Pizzeria Oliva
| When to inform guests | Text on the card | Calendar check |
|---|---|---|
| Before the holiday | 24 December 2026: open 11:30–15:00. Kitchen closes at 14:00. Closed on 25 December. Normal hours resume on 26 December. | Advance notice ends before the message for the day |
| On the day | Today, 24 December 2026: open until 15:00. Kitchen closes at 14:00. Closed on 25 December. | Separate one-off entry with a deliberately chosen display window |
| After the exception | Normal opening hours resume on 26 December. | Expired notice is no longer scheduled; check the usual programme |
Check the exception and the return to normal
The SUISSE-VIDEO calendar supports one-off entries and date ranges. According to the current feature description, a one-off entry takes priority over the weekly schedule. Use the date preview to check the day before, the holiday and the day after. Keep your website and other published opening hours consistent too.
