Schedule and check holiday opening notices
This guide explains how to prepare a holiday notice, schedule its display in the SUISSE-VIDEO calendar and check the return to your usual programme. The example is fictional.
1. Confirm the special opening hours
Ask the person responsible to confirm the date, opening hours, kitchen hours and next normal opening day. If you are closing, say “closed” clearly. Describe any collection service or other services that remain available separately. A screen notice still needs coordination with your team.
2. Write a short notice
Start with the occasion and date. Then give opening hours and, where relevant, kitchen hours. Finish with the next normal opening day or a specific contact for reservations. Avoid relative wording such as “tomorrow” or “next week”, which can become misleading when a message plays later.
3. Separate display times from opening hours
Create the notice as text content, add it to the correct project and schedule it in the calendar. An advance notice can appear several days before the change; a separate message can follow on the holiday. Set the start, end and required display windows deliberately. Writing a time in the notice does not itself control playback.
Example: a holiday notice for Pizzeria Oliva
| When to inform guests | Text on the card | Calendar check |
|---|---|---|
| Before the holiday | 24 December 2026: open 11:30–15:00. Kitchen closes at 14:00. Closed on 25 December. Normal hours resume on 26 December. | Advance notice ends before the message for the day |
| On the day | Today, 24 December 2026: open until 15:00. Kitchen closes at 14:00. Closed on 25 December. | Separate one-off entry with a deliberately chosen display window |
| After the exception | Normal opening hours resume on 26 December. | Expired notice is no longer scheduled; check the usual programme |
4. Preview exceptions and overlapping entries
Check the date preview before, during and after the exception, including the boundaries of the scheduled display windows. One-off entries take priority over the weekly schedule. If several special entries overlap, check which message actually appears rather than assuming a further order of priority. Simplify overlapping entries if the result is unclear. Then check the actual playback device too.
5. Check the return to normal and other channels
Limit the notice to its intended period in the calendar, then check the usual programme afterwards. Video resumes when no text display is scheduled; the appropriate regular card should appear during its usual time slot. Update your website, other published hours and any necessary printed notices separately. The screen calendar does not automatically synchronise these details. Record who is responsible for the checks.
