Recorded landscape video or live view: what is your screen really showing?
Sunshine on a screen does not necessarily mean sunshine on the mountain. Clear labels help visitors distinguish recorded scenery from a current view.
Check the content, not just the video title
A landscape video shows recorded footage. Even a stream running around the clock may repeat recordings. The word “livestream” alone does not confirm a current weather view.
State the location, image type and time
Label recordings as recorded footage. For a still image, the capture time matters more than the time your screen retrieved it. Use “Live” only for a genuinely running source and account for its delay.
Before and after: clear image labels
| Source | Misleading label | Suitable label |
|---|---|---|
| Saved landscape video | Today’s weather | Recorded landscape footage · not a live view |
| Updated still image | Current | Camera image · captured on [date] at [time, time zone] |
| Verified running camera stream | Mountain panorama | Live camera [location] · state a known delay if relevant |
| Unavailable or unverified source | Old image labelled “Live” | Current view unavailable · please ask our team |
Do not imply freshness when a source fails
A frozen image should not remain labelled as a current view. Prepare a replacement notice and check how to display it in your SUISSE-VIDEO project. This guide does not assume automatic failure detection or switching.
